CYIAtlasTextSceneNode Class Reference

Detailed Description

A specialized CYITextSceneNode that uses a texture atlas.

The CYIAtlasTextSceneNode calculates a visual representation of a text glyph and stores it as a sub-region within the texture atlas. A texture atlas typically contains many sub-regions which are separate visual elements that can be quickly indexed and rendered through the use of texture coordinates. This approach can be more efficient than managing and drawing many small textures individually when compared to loading and referencing a single large texture.

Text rendered by this class cannot be rotated or scaled. It also cannot be animated on the Z-axis.

Generates the text mesh and associated textures for the text atlas. It is called automatically when the bounds of the text have changed.

This function is costly in terms of performance; it should be called as infrequently as possible, usually when the underlying text has changed.

Called when the bounds of the text have changed but before the text has been drawn. The work performed in this function is usually work that needs to be done in advance of rendering, such as creating a text mesh.
